Revolting from Abroad: The Formation of a Lebanese Transnational Public

Nowadays social movements are driven by networks of people who resort to media platforms rally, self-organise and coordinate action around a shared cause, which can be referred as the formation publics. Due years political instability, conflicts, corruption, sectarianism, economic collapse declining living conditions, in October 2019 Lebanon witnessed uprisings transcended into wider movement. As movement unfolded, Lebanese diaspora members across world formed their own publics support revolution that interfaced with local Lebanon-based such, broader transnational public emerged result coordinated online offline efforts between actors actors, had crucial role mitigating aftermath compounded crises hit Lebanon. In this paper, through observation interviews members, we contribute socio-technical understanding public, particular focus on underlying infrastructures enabled its creation. Furthermore, surface challenges relation sustaining such interfacing We empirical insights highlight how different technological tools platforms, coupled processes built within groups led multilayered public.
